It looks like the developer of VS Notes does not have the time to maintain the extension. I don't know if he will ever find the time to get back to the extension. Maybe he is happy with how the extension works and that's it. Anyway...
It seems, you have already improved the code a lot. Would you be interested in forking the code and creating a new extension with a new name? There are lots of good ideas in the VS Notes issues and I would love to have an extension with YAML frontmatter as the ultimate metadata source with internal linking, etc. What is your vision about VS Notes?
