I already struggle with that new HZ version :-/ The existing CP based leader-election will stop working only commercial license is a solution but I think not for the majority of the people.

Exactly, @ahoehma!
This is the question more up to Hazelcast.
Since their solution has gone commercial, we also here have to do something similar or just drop this module altogether.
The Open Source can be based only on Open Source.

This is an ongoing internal team discussion.
Nothing we can do at the moment.
